There are stories in the Bible that show characters who stand tall on God's Word and His promises. There are also stories that show people trying to stand tall on their own but they end up falling hard. The story from this week has both. Three sets of individuals are compared to see the importance of letting God lead in all facets of our lives.
Do you ever have trouble remembering things? If you’re not sure, the answer is probably “yes.” Do you ever forget where you put your keys? Your wallet? Your checkbook? Your mind? As Christians, it is good to have days where we focus on remembering past events to remind us to be thankful. In 2 Timothy 2:8–9, the apostle Paul exhorts Timothy to “remember.” As we reflect on this passage from God’s Word, we see that we are called to remember five very important facts.
Pastor Chuck preaches from the book of Ruth. The story of Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz is a wonderful picture of the kinsman-redeemer. Jesus Christ is our kinsman-redeemer. Listen or watch below and don't forget the notes!
In this part of the Story, we look at the 300-year period of the Judges. During this time, the nation of Israel found itself in a defeating cycle of sin. They would sin by falling into idolatry. God would remove His steady hand of protection and allow suffering and oppression. The people would cry out to God for help. God would deliver them. Then, the cycle would repeat itself. This happens six times in the book of Judges. It is also prevalent in our lives today. Pastor Scott shows how we can escape this cycle by trusting Jesus Christ.
If Pastor Scott sounds funny in the audio and video, it is because he was suffering from a tooth infection and could barely talk on Saturday! Thankfully, he has a good dentist that helped him out Saturday night.
